Antonio Simoes*, B.Sc., LL.B., (*denotes a Professional Law Corporation) is a Senior Lawyer and the Founder of the Deer Lake Law Group. He earned a Science Degree (B.Sc.) with a specialization in Psychology in 1990 and Law Degree (LL.B.) in 1995 at the University of Alberta.
During his years in Family Law practice, Antonio witnessed first-hand the damaging effects of prolonged litigation, and the toll that such conflict took on families, their assets and their children. He is dedicated to bringing a more straightforward approach to family law and the restructuring of families. Throughout the divorce process, negotiation, mediation and the Courts are very powerful tools which he uses skillfully to resolve the difficult issues of asset division, spousal and child support and parenting time.
In 1978, Antonio immigrated to Canada with his parents. Now, Antonio is passionate about helping others make Canada their new home by finding creative solutions for his Immigration clients.
Presently, Antonio’s practice is focused on Family Law, Immigration and general civil matters. In addition to English, Antonio is fluent in Portuguese and proficient in Spanish.
Antonio is a proud supporter of the Burnaby Neighbourhood House and is a member of its Executive Board. He is also a member of the SFU Animal Care Committee, which deals with the ethical and meritorious use of animals in research and teaching.
